Initial Instructions
After unpacking, remove and recycle the cardboard packaging. Choose a location for your plant that is away from heat sources such as wood stoves and radiators. The best way to water is to lift the pot from the wrapper, water the tree at the sink, then return it to the decorative wrap after the excess water has drained away. Do not allow the pot to sit in water inside the decorative cover.

Cultivation
Indoors: This native American evergreen needs little direct sun. It can tolerate only 1-2 hours of direct sun early or late in the day. Wintergreen prefers cool temperatures, keep the soil moist, and fertilizing is seldom necessary.
Outdoors: Wintergreen should be planted in early spring. Give it a shady but bright spot with well-drained, acidic soil rich in organic matter. Over time, a single plant can spread 3 feet in width. The dark green leaves turn red or reddish purple in winter.

Pests & Diseases
The volatile oils of wintergreen deter most insects, not bothered by diseases.
