Good Mustard Mix

These mustards grew really well before bolting after the west coast heat wave. The maturity estimate given by Territorial seemed fairly accurate for PNW climate even with the cooler-than-average start to Spring. I'm not sure that they're the best salad mustard, at least by the time I got around to picking them, they had grown so fast that they were better for cooking. This isn't a knock on the mix, just something to keep in mind.

Worth the Wait

Have tried to grow other mustards in the past but without much success. Planted these in April and they took longer than the 30 days packet says to mature. Closer to 60 but we had a very wet & cool May. Well worth the wait! Big, fleshy leaves and stems with a lot of texture. Great in stir-fry dishes to add zesty flavor. Will definitely grown again.

Main early spring salad mix year after year

Oh my, what a pleasure to be able to get this seed mix. Full flavored (but not hot) mustard greens make an outstanding salad. wonderful range of colors, shapes and textures add interest. Good vigor, quick to mature. Thank you Territorial!

Culture
• Mustard greens are easy crops to grow if planted in early spring or late summer
• Mustards are best directly sown

Direct Sowing
• Make a furrow 6 inches deep and sprinkle 1/2 cup of TSC's Complete fertilizer per 10 row feet in the bottom of the furrow
• Backfill the furrow and plant the seed
• Thin after second set of true leaves
• Sow July—August for a fall crop

Transplanting
• Start indoors 3-5 weeks before anticipated transplant
• Put out after the danger of hard frost, and use 1/4 cup of TSC's Complete fertilizer around each plant
• For a fall crop: start July—August for transplanting August—September

Insects & Diseases
• Common insects: Flea beetles
• Insect control: Pyrethrin, silver mulch, or row covers at planting
• Disease prevention: 5-7 year crop rotation
