MINI TUBER COLLECTION

MINI TUBER COLLECTION

Product Description:

Your potato patch will abound with this multi-color collection of mini tubers. Includes 10 each of Adirondack Blue, Sangre and Russet Burbank for an abundant harvest of delectable spuds and a money-saving price of $14.90 off from purchasing them separately.

Mini tubers are naturally bred, miniaturized seed potatoes that are produced in controlled, disease-free conditions. Field research shows that mini tubers out-perform standard cut potatoes, since the skin of the mini tuber remains intact and protects the seed. Simply plant each quarter-sized mini tuber individually and expect a harvest of 30-40 pounds of full-sized potatoes from each order of 10 mini tubers.

Mini Tubers begin shipping in March and shipping continues until we are sold out. We will prioritize orders for warmer zones to ship first and will avoid shipping to cooler zones until threat of freezing has diminished. Order early for best availability. Sorry, not available to US Territories or Canada.

Russet fail

Of the 10-12 russets that came in the pack, only one managed to grow, which is super disappointing considering how much I spent on these. All the other varieties are thriving, though.

So sorry to hear that! Without knowing the specific growing conditions, it's hard to say what happened but at Territorial our products are backed by our full guarantee! We want you, our customers, to be 100% satisfied with the seed, plants and supplies that you purchase from us. If anything you buy from Territorial proves to be unsatisfactory, we will either replace the item (if available) or refund the purchase price (up to 1 year from purchase), whichever you prefer. Contact our customer service (Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM Pacific Time) at either 800-626-0866 or info@territorialseed.com

Great Results!

I live in Southern Idaho zone 6b and had great success with this set of starter potatoes. We harvested about 6 5 gallon buckets full of potatoes. Some medium sized some very large. Will definitely be buying this set in again. Loved the different varieties and finding what the work best with.

Not acceptable size

I got this collection of mini potatoes and a few grew to seed potato size. Most were marbles.. Saving bigger ones to plant next year, but this year was a loss. Emailed TS when I received these marble sized potatoes and they assuresd me they would grow to normal size.. They did not. Emailed at harvest, no answer. Done with all TS products.

Sorry to hear that was your experience with our mini tubers! In case you ever want to reconsider growing with them in the future: they do go through a pre-sprouting process so they are ready to be planted upon arrival. There's no need to chit, cut, or process them -- they can just go straight into your prepared bed and then water them in well. We do offer a 100% guarantee on our products, so our customer service team has issued you a refund for your Mini Tuber collection.

Solanum tuberosum Our favorite comfort food has proven to be an amazing source of nutrients and nourishment. High in vitamins, such as vitamin C, they rival broccoli as a source of phytonutrients. We offer only certified disease-free seed potatoes. Easy to grow, we will include complete cultural directions with each order.

Days to maturity are calculated from date of direct seeding.

Culture
• Potatoes prefer fertile, loose, well-drained soil
• Forking beds is recommended
• Apply a fertilizer that is low in nitrogen and high in phosphorus such as bone meal — use 5-7 pounds per 100 square feet
• Proper soil pH of 5.2-6.0 will help avoid scab
• Irrigate thoroughly when needed, allow the soil to dry out somewhat before watering again
Hilling: as plants grow, cover with soil, mulch, or compost, while leaving top-growth exposed
• Repeat hilling process 3-4 times throughout season

Direct Sowing
• Plant potatoes up to 3 weeks before your last frost date
• Larger potatoes can be cut into smaller pieces to use as seed — allow the cut potato to heal before planting to prevent rot (2-3 days at 70°F)

Insects & Diseases
• Common insects: Colorado potato beetle, tuber flea beetle, potato aphid, potato psyllid, potato tuber worm/moth
• Insect control: Pyrethrin and row covers
• Common diseases: Early and late blight, white mold, botrytis, leaf roll virus, mosaic virus, verticilium wilt, potato scab
• Disease prevention: 4-year crop rotation, and fungicide applications

Harvest & Storage
• "New" potatoes can be harvested from early varieties beginning 60 days after planting
• Once top-growth dies down, leave in the ground for 2 weeks and then harvest
• Dig tubers carefully, brush off soil and allow skins to dry before storing
• Standard potatoes yield about 10 times the amount originally planted
• Fingerling potatoes yield 15-20 times the amount originally planted
• Store in a dark location; 40-45°F and 90% relative humidity
