Iris sibirica 'Purring Tiger' An ideal addition to any iris collector’s garden, this dwarf variety features a richly detailed flower adorned with intricate streaks of deep indigo, electric purple, golden yellow, and black. Despite its compact size, this plant is sure to command attention when it roars to life in early summer. Drought tolerant. Hardy in zones 3–9. 

Iris plants ship late April in 3 ½ inch pots. Order early for best availability. Detailed planting information and growing instructions are included with each order and may be obtained below. Available only in the contiguous US.

Cultivation
This dwarf Iris requires outdoor living conditions in typical garden loam. Iris prefers things on the dry side, so place it in a bed that gets plenty of sun and not too much water. Avoid overwatering. Use light, natural fertilizer monthly for feeding at the rhizomes. Every three to five years you can dig up your clump of Purring Tigers along with other Iris and divide out the rhizomes and spread to other beds.

Pests & Diseases
Iris are subject to black fungus if overwatered—allow to fully dry between waterings—the plants are drought tolerant.

Soil Type
Typical garden soil, dry loam, some light mulch as needed.

Full sun

Bloom Time
Summer – occasionally a second flowering later in the season as well.
