ROYAL BURGUNDY

ROYAL BURGUNDY

Product Description:

60 days. This bean is absolutely gorgeous! Violet-purple outside and bright green inside, it is fun for kids to grow and has great flavor. The 6 inch long pods turn green after cooking, providing a built-in blanching indicator. Upright, 24 inch tall plants hold their slightly-curved pods off the ground. Like its predecessor, Royalty Purple Pod, Royal Burgundy performs exceptionally well under cool conditions. Rich, delicious bean flavor. Buckskin color seeds; 105 per ounce.

Royal Burgundy offers beans worthy of a king's ransome

Many, many years ago in a land far, far away from where I garden today my parents reluctantly acquiesced to my curiosity and desire to grow something "different" than they were traditionally comfortable with. That year Eastern NC suffered a massive drought and the only garden "row" of green beans that survived and produced were royal burgundy with the "purple green beans"; and the only thing our family found more amazing than the ability of these beans to produce when the beans of generations gone by withered away was the simple act of these purple beans color changing to green as they cooked into a simple, delicious pot of green beans!

Needless to say, these Royal Burgundy beans earned a place in the hearts of my family and continue to grow in the gardens of my family this day often beside, or amongst the other favorite varieties from generations gone by proving themselves worthy of love and commitment from the dirt to the plate.

an instant favorite

I planted royal burgundy beans for our bush beans this year, and we are impressed. They grow quickly, they have low pest pressure, there is very little weeding or pruning to do, they flower abundantly, they don't seem to mind a little bit of overcrowding, and the beans taste like actual food. Honestly, it's hard to argue with that. No notes, more of that please.

the most beans for harvest of any that I've planted

The plants are so beautiful I have planted them in a front flower bed this year. The beans are a rather strange color after cooking but taste sweet and bean-y. Excellent.
