AFGANSKI
Product Description:
Native to Afghanistan which is famous for commercial production of pomegranates. It has survived the test of time due to its extreme cold hardiness, consistent fruit production and drought tolerance.
Pomegranate plants start shipping in May in 4” pots and are about 5-7” at time of shipment. Order early for best availability. Available only within the contiguous US.
Initial Instructions
After unpacking, allow the plant a few days to gradually acclimate to full-sun exposure. If you are keeping your pomegranate in a container, re-pot it into a 6-8 inch diameter pot. The plant will require re-potting to a larger container as it grows. Up-pot when the plant appears root bound or when large roots push out the drainage holes.
Cultivation
Pomegranates are drought tolerant once established. Water regularly during the first growing season, but do not allow the soil to become soggy. Once established, water when the top several inches of soil is dry. Fertilize early in the season, prior to the appearance of new growth, with a well-balanced fertilizer or with a slow-release fertilizer for container plants. Prune or shear to maintain shape.
