COFFEE

Product Description:

Tea drinkers have been growing herbs to make tea for years, and now coffee drinkers can grow their own coffee! The coffee plant is a small, handsome, evergreen tree that can be grown in a large container with filtered sunlight. Although it’s not frost tolerant, it can be brought indoors during the winter months in colder climates. During the winter it prefers high humidity, moist (not soggy) soil, and a sunny, south-facing window. Glossy, dark emerald leaves set off clusters of wonderfully fragrant, white flowers from the second year on. The blooms produce ½ inch berries that begin green, ripen to yellow and finally mature to deep red. Each fruit contains 2 seeds, which are coffee beans that can be roasted and ground for brewing. Plants can reach 10–12 feet but are typically maintained at 2–4 feet.

Coffee plants ship late April to early May in 3 ½ inch pots. Order early for best availability. Detailed planting information and growing instructions are included with each order and may be obtained below. Available only in the contiguous US.

Hasn’t grown much since arriving but admittedly our cat found it very delish! Lol
It has responded well to the ‘trimming’ still about the same size as the day it arrived but looks happy

Gorgeous little bush!

I’m very pleased with my coffee plant! It arrived lovingly packed, and it wasn’t phased at all by being mailed! I can’t wait for it to bear fruit, even though it will be a few years. This little plant has gorgeous foliage, it brings me joy to look at it every day.

Coffee Plants

I ordered 2 of the coffee plants and when I got them they were better than I had expected. Both were healthy and well rooted plants. I have not killed either one which is great for me. I am looking forward to seeing them bloom when they mature.

Initial Instructions
After unpacking your plant, allow a few days for it to gradually acclimate to full light exposure. If planting directly into the ground, choose a location with well-drained, slightly acidic soil. For a container-grown plant re-pot it into a 6-8 inch diameter pot in standard potting soil. The plant will require re-potting to a larger container as it grows. Up-pot when the plant appears root bound or when large roots push out the drainage holes. Finished container size should be approximately 5-8 gallons if the plant is maintained at 2-4 feet.

Cultivation
Water regularly during the growing season and less during the winter. Coffee plants require a 2-3 month period of drier conditions to produce flowers and berries. Fertilize regularly during the growing season with a well-balanced fertilizer.

Size at Maturity
10-12 feet or taller under optimal conditions, but normally maintained at 2-4 feet.

Spacing
5-15 feet depending on overall height of plant.

Fusarium if the plants suffer from frost damage.
