Product Description:

Ribes spicatum This plant has a lot to offer! Red Currant is Native to Eastern Europe and is an ideal plant for a patio container, mixed, or pollinator garden. These berries are tart and nutrient dense, perfect for fresh eating, adorning charcuterie boards, summer drinks or leaving them for the array of birds that will populate this small shrub throughout the late summer months into fall. Easy-to-grow plants are highly ornamental and showcase an abundance of flowers, fruits and fall color, adding interest to the patio or garden all growing season. Growing 3-5 feet, the hardy, woody, attractive plant will tolerate most soils and full sun to partial shade. Hardy in zones 3–7.

Initial Instructions
After unpacking, allow the plant a few days to gradually acclimate to full exposure. If you are keeping your currant in a container, re-pot it into the desired pot. If planting in the ground, select a location with well-drained soil, spacing the plants 3 feet apart.

Cultivation
Water regularly during the first growing season, but do not allow the soil to become soggy. Fertilize lightly early in the season with a well-balanced fertilizer. Prune as needed to maintain shape or allow to grow naturally; currants have an attractive ornamental habit. For plants in the ground, mulch well in autumn to protect the roots.
