CRIMSON RED RHUBARB

CRIMSON RED RHUBARB

Product Description:

Crimson Red has excellent, if not the best, rhubarb flavor. It has the perfect balance of sweet and tart. The large, fleshy stalks are tender and never stringy. Each plant produces heavy yields of 24 inch, plump, red stalks. Very winter hardy and productive for many years.

We ship rhubarb roots mid to late March. They need to be planted upon arrival. Not available to Canada or US Territories.

Rhubarb

I was impressed with the size of the rhubarb that I received. I could not plant in the garden right away so planted in a large pot temporarily. It did very well and seems happy in it's new home now in the garden. I am very happy with this purchase. Thank you!

Crimson Red Rhubarb

First, their customer service is excellent. I ordered two Crimson Red Rhubarb roots, both planted identically in the PBW. One is growing wonderfully, alas, the other didn't even try. Territorial issued a prompt refund, and I will order a replacement for next year. I'm liking this company.

Order for spring seeds 2025

Love using you for seeds each year. Left over seeds hold well for the next years use . I was disappointed by the ruby red rhubarb, I planted as directed but just as the leaf started to appear it stopped growing and when I dug it up the whole root was mushy top was black and seemed rotten. I have other type of rhubarb near by that's fine and hasn't had any problems coming back each year. Not sure what happened or why.

So sorry to hear that! Without knowing specifics about the growing conditions, it can be hard to say what happened. Please feel free to email us with more info and include photos if you can so we can help troubleshoot further. As always, our products are backed by our full guarantee. We want you, our customers, to be 100% satisfied with the seed, plants and supplies that you purchase from us. If anything you buy from Territorial proves to be unsatisfactory, we will either replace the item (if available) or refund the purchase price, whichever you prefer (for up to 1 year from purchase). Contact our customer service (Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM Pacific Time) at either 800-626-0866 or info@territorialseed.com

Never grew an inch

I was just about to ask for a replacement or refund. When received, it had two very small leaves - not even 1/2 the size of other rhubarb plants I received from other nurseries. It is planted in area where other rhubarb plants have thrived, but it hasn't produced another leaf.
Please let me know how to file for a replacement.

Rheum rhabarbarum Treated as a fruit, this vegetable was used medicinally long before it was popularized in tart desserts and sauces, and is packed with vitamin K, fiber, and antioxidants.

Culture
• Prefers an open, sunny place and fertile soil
• Dig in lots of compost or well-rotted manure
• Turn the soil as deeply as possible as it will help the roots grow deeper

Transplanting
• Dig a narrow trench and plant 3-4 feet apart
• Plant root division so that the growing point is just at the soil surface
• Add compost and 1 cup of TSC's Complete fertilizer around each plant in the early spring every year

Insects & Diseases
• Consult your local county extension agent for specific problems

Harvest & Storage
• We suggest not harvesting the first year, allowing the plant to become well established
• Harvest by pulling rather than cutting
• Harvest from the bottom, stalks should be at least 10 inches
• Don't remove more than half the stalks in a summer to allow the plant to build up food reserves
• Cut off flower stalks as they emerge
• Fresh rhubarb stalks can be stored 2-3 weeks at 33°F and 90-95% relative humidity
