CANDY CANE CHOCOLATE CHERRY

CANDY CANE CHOCOLATE CHERRY

Product Description:

70–75 days. Just WOW! This little snacking pepper is as delicious as it looks, and its plant is pretty enough to fit right into the most stunning ornamental garden. The mini bell-shaped fruit is 3 ½ inches long and 2 ½ inches wide. It starts out green with white stripes and matures through red with white and finally to chocolate with red stripes. Tasty at any stage, it’s sweet and crispy. The bushy plants are bedecked with vibrant, variegated foliage. A great crop for in the garden or place them in containers prominently on the patio where you can impress your guests!

Very sweet

Bought them from a home grower, at first thought they were ailing with the white on the leaves, but then I saw the cluster of fruit and was amazed at the volume on such a small plant. .Will give 5 * after harvest I'm sure. Am ordering more to try in my sunroom this fall as I live in New Hampshire.

Tasty moderate producer

I wouldn't say these will win a production award, but they are pretty and tasty. I've only been growing in Idaho for about three years, and I have a little more difficulty with sweet and bell peppers as compared to hot for some reason, whereas back in WV I had the opposite. At any rate, worth a try. They make nice tasting peppers for stuffing, and they hold up well without getting tough which can sometimes happen though rare with other varieties. This guy is probably best for fresh eating or to brighten up a cold dish. Plant won't be as big as many bell/sweet peppers, so it'll make a great container/raised bed grower. 4 stars for the moderate production compared to other sweet peppers even taking into account my struggles with sweet peppers. Still trying to figure out what slightly stunting the sweet pepper plant's potential when compared to my hot peppers which just fine and/or exceed expectation.

Cute and tasty!

Grew one of these as a transplant last year. Moderate production of lovely and tasty peppers. Nice sweet taste that the kids loved fresh. Harvested at various stages, you get a beautiful array of colors and they all taste good. Variegated foliage on this compact plant is attractive, too. Ordering another for this season!

Capsicum annuum Our wide array of fabulous peppers, both sweet and hot, offers one of the richest sources of nutrients in the plant kingdom. Hot peppers contain capsaicin, which revs up your metabolism and reduces general inflammation in the body.

Days to maturity are calculated from date of transplanting and reflect edible green fruit.

Culture
• Peppers are warm-season annuals that grow best in composted, well-drained soils with a pH of 5.5-6.8
• Extra calcium and phosphorus are needed for highest yields

• Row cover young plants, remove after blossoms form
• Peppers grow slowly in cool soils; do not transplant before weather has stabilized
• Peppers set fruit best between 65-85°F

Direct Sowing
• Not recommended

Transplanting
• Start seeds in trays 8-12 weeks before anticipated transplant date
• Once seedlings have 2 sets of true leaves, up-pot to a 4 inch pot
• Use 1/2 cup TSC's Complete fertilizer and a shovelful of compost around each plant
• Fertilize with Age Old Bloom when plants begin to flower

Insects & Diseases
• Common insects: Flea beetles, aphids
• Insect control: Pyrethrin or row covers
• Common diseases: See chart below
• Disease prevention: 3-4 year crop rotation
