I planted the crowns closer together than generally recommended due to space constraints but so far they are doing great. I laid them out end-to-end in trenches which I amended with granular organic fertilizer, covered them with soil, and over the course of the spring added more soil and compost as the shoots got taller. By midsummer they had become thick and tall and made lovely fronds. I’m looking forward to tasting them in season 3!
Crowns arrived in late April, looked to be healthy and in good condition. They sprouted over a wide date range, I initially thought only half survived but given another month the others sprouted and caught up in size. All are now very happy three months later, with some even sending up another spear in the last week. Excited to try them in a couple years!
I finally have space to grow asparagus! The crowns arrived fresh and alive as promised. I got them in the ground that same day. In very short time they sprouted up!. The plants are looking healthy and growing very tall. New plants are coming up weekly so the bed is going to be nice and full. It will be a couple of years before I can review the spears but I'm confident they'll be amazing.
I was unable to plant for several weeks after receiving my shipment. I put the roots on a cooler, covered with damp brown paper and a little soil. Finally got them planted and they are currently doing well.

Culture
• Asparagus plants are dioecious, meaning there are both male & female plants
• Male plants produce thicker, larger spears
• Female plants produce small berries
• Asparagus is a hardy perennial
• The key to good production is well-prepared, deeply dug beds with lots of organic matter
• Fertilize beds early in the spring and after harvest with 1–2 cups of TSC's Complete fertilizer per 10 row feet
• Keep beds moist

Transplanting
• Start transplants 60–90 days before your last frost
• Transplant seedlings after the danger of frost
Asparagus Root Crowns
• Plant your 1 year old crowns shortly after you receive them
• Crowns can be transplanted 4–6 weeks before last frost
• Dig a 4–6 inch trench; create a hill in the center
• Drape roots over the hill; cover roots with soil
• Fill in trench as asparagus grows

Harvest & Storage
• A moderate 2–3 week harvest can be expected from crowns in 2–3 years

• To maintain perennial bed, leave smaller spears to mature into ferns, which will regenerate the plant
• With each successive year, your plant productivity and harvest window will increase
