Great Wax Pole Bean

This variety consistently produces high yields of tasty golden beans, which hold well on the plant without getting stringy here in Massachusetts, regardless of weather. I've grown them the past three years, and they've survived both record droughts and wet summers. After a initial large harvest, they continue to produce until the first frost. No significant issues with pests or disease, and they tend to outperform my bush varieties, being further off the ground and out of reach of slugs, voles, etc.

Delicious &Productive

In my Northern Illinois garden Sunshine was the first pole bean to be harvested, 2-3 weeks before Blauhilde and Monte Gusto. It produced reliably and generously throughout the odd summer of too much rain in one week followed by weeks of no rain. It has a delicious buttery "bean"� taste far superior to bush filet beans, stringless, and holds its color with cooking. Vigorous 7-8' vines will get a bean tunnel in my "�22 garden.

Rich and flavorful beans are fiber-packed veggies that promote digestive health and are excellent sources of antioxidants that scavenge free radicals in the body. They are also nitrogen-fixing legumes; beans gather nitrogen from the air and load it into the soil to feed future crops.

Days to maturity are calculated from date of direct seeding.

Culture
• Beans are shallow rooted and can require up to 1/4 inch of water a day during hot weather
• Optimum soil pH is 5.5-6.5, mildly acidic
• Apply 1 cup of TSC's Complete fertilizer per 10 row feet, and 1 inch of compost

Direct Sowing
• One ounce of seed plants 12-15 row feet, 1/2 pound for 100 row feet
• Grow Pole, Runner, and Yard Long beans on trellises
