Cannellini Lingot

Surprised when I needed to install poles for the vines to grow onto. How tall do bush beans get?

In our cool, short summers, Cannellini Lingot usually produces large bushy plants that occasionally throw short runners by early September. We are currently growing Cannellini Lingot and have observed that it's forming a large bush and starting to produce short runners as of Mid-July. This is an unusually warm summer for us. Based on the feedback from several customers we are going to re-classify Cannellini Lingot as a half-runner bean. In other areas of the country with warmer climates this variety producers longer runners and could require trellising.

Disappointing

Not a single seed came up. My other beans and peas germinated and are growing, but not a one of these.

They look great now

This is a follow up review on the one I sent June 25. The plants have grown and you can't see the runners anymore. Lots of blossoms and I have beans 5 inches long . I'm pretty impressed so far. It looks like a real good crop . I planted the same variety last year and these are twice as big . Must be all the compost I used . I'll update at harvest time

Not bush cannellini

I logged in today to check what I'd ordered. The package said "bush", but I didn't save it so thought I'd check only to find I'm not the only one with pole beans instead. The stars aren't reflective of the results as they haven't produced yet. I'm just agreeing with the others that these are pole beans, not bush beans.

Phaseolus vulgaris Rich and flavorful beans are fiber-packed veggies that promote digestive health and are excellent sources of antioxidants that scavenge free radicals in the body. They are also nitrogen-fixing legumes; beans gather nitrogen from the air and load it into the soil to feed future crops.

Days to maturity are calculated from date of direct seeding.

Culture
• Beans are shallow rooted and can require up to 1/4 inch of water a day during hot weather
• Optimum soil pH is 5.5-6.5, mildly acidic
• Apply 1 cup of TSC's Complete fertilizer per 10 row feet, and 1 inch of compost

Direct Sowing
• One ounce of seed sows 10-20 row feet
• Grow Pole, Runner, and Yard Long beans on trellises

Insects & Diseases
• Common insects: Mexican bean beetles, bean weevils, cucumber beetles, spider mites
• Insect control: Pyrethrin

• Disease prevention: Avoid wetting the foliage, remove plants at the end of the year, 3-4 year crop rotation

Harvest & Storage
• Days to maturity are for the fresh shell stage
• Shelling beans: Pick when fully formed but still soft and green
• Dry beans: Harvest mature beans before pods begin to shatter in the field
• If weather prevents field drying, pull plants and dry inside on a tarp, turning pile daily for even drying
• To thresh dry beans: When material is brittle dry, place material in bag and swing against a hard surface, or beat with a stick or rake on a tarp
• Make sure beans are fully dry, then store in a cool place
• Bean weevils may be eliminated by freezing the seed near 0°F for 2 weeks
