not germinating

It been a few years since I had a wnter garden and so I thought I'd have one to keep me busier this winter. I've had 4 plants germinate so far out of approxiamtely 4 dozen seeds sown. It is right next door to my spinach and radishes and their doing fine. Thr temperature has been as low as 48 overnight, but as high 107 day times, and plants are getting plenty of water.

So sorry to hear that! The temperature fluctuations could be making germination more erratic. We also tend to have better luck with leeks in a fall/winter garden if they are started indoors & then transplanted out. We do germ test all of our seeds and to ensure we sell only top performing crops, we have established germination standards that are higher than prescribed by the Federal Seed Act. Our minimum germination standard for leeks is 70% and the most recent test for this variety passed at 86%. As always, our products are backed by our full guarantee. We want you, our customers, to be 100% satisfied with the seed, plants and supplies that you purchase from us. If anything you buy from Territorial proves to be unsatisfactory, we will either replace the item (if available) or refund the purchase price, whichever you prefer (for up to 1 year from purchase). You can also reach out to us for any troubleshooting! Contact our customer service (Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM Pacific Time) at either 800-626-0866 or info@territorialseed.com

This is my favorite leek. I tried three new varieties last year and I still like this one the best. It is a delicious, large sized tall leek with a thick shaft which overwinters perfectly in the Pacific Northwest,

Culture
• Leeks are a frost-hardy cool season crop requiring a long growing period
• Best growth is achieved with fertile, well-drained soil with a pH of 6.0-7.0
• Plant in a trench 5 inches deep and wide, work in 1/2 cup of TSC's Complete fertilizer per 5 row feet
• Blanch to increase the length of white stem by gradually filling in the trench as the leeks grow

Direct Sowing
• Thin to the strongest plant when 4-5 inches

Transplanting
• Sow up to 10-12 seeds in a 4-6 inch pot
• If tops reach over 5 inches before transplant, cut to 3 inches
• When planting out carefully separate the seedlings and place in a shallow trench
• Fill trench around seedlings and water in well

Harvest & Storage
• Harvest anytime the leeks are 1/2 inch in diameter or larger
• Store at 36°F and 95% relative humidity
