GLOIRE DES SABLONS

Product Description:

Ribes rubrum Gloire des Sablons is a pink currant valued for its large, gorgeous berries. The fruit are light-streaked rose to pink blush with golden hues on a completely transparent skin and beautifully capture the light during its long fruiting season. The compact, woody shrub reaches 3-5 feet and blooms in early spring followed by fruit in late summer/early fall. Great for containers, self-fertile and hardy in zones 3-8.

Initial Instructions
After unpacking your Cherry Red currant, allow the plant a few days to gradually acclimate to full exposure. If you are keeping your Cherry Red currant in a container, re-pot it into the desired pot. If planting in the ground, select a location with well-drained soil, spacing the plants 3 feet apart.

For all other currants, upon arrival the shrubs will be bareroot and dormant. Moisten them slightly with some regular water and place in a cool damp area until ready to plant outdoors. It’s best to plant the currants while still dormant and space them 2-4 feet apart.

Cultivation
Water regularly during the first growing season. Fertilize lightly early in the season with a well-balanced fertilizer. Mulch well in autumn to protect the roots.
