Initial Instructions
After unpacking, allow the plant a few days to gradually acclimate to its full exposure. Plant your begonia in an area with well-drained, not soggy soil that is enriched with humus and protected from mid-day and hot afternoon sun. It can be paired with other shade-loving plants for a mixed display or planted alone as a specimen. If you choose to keep the plant in a container, plant it in a 6-8 inch pot when you receive it filling the pot with standard potting mix. Rex Begonias appreciate shade or dappled sun best performance outdoors. A bright area out of direct afternoon sun indoors is also great for the plant.
Cultivation
Rex Begonias are very easy care plants whether indoors or out. Water the plant when the top of the soil is dry, and allow any excess water to run off. If the plant stands in water, it could develop root rot and die. We recommend feeding them with an all-purpose fertilizer during the growing season. They are not frost-hardy, so plan on bringing your plants indoors when the weather cools if you live in a region that receives frost, or grow it as an annual.
