MALIBU

Product Description:

75 days. Malibu offers everything we look for in a green bean: strong, healthy plants with tender, tasty pods. Round-bodied and light, minty green pods are delicious and not the least bit stringy even up to 7 inches long. Tall-growing plants put these superb beans within easy reach for picking, and heavy harvests provide plenty for fresh eating and preserving. White seeds; 90 per ounce. BMV, CTM, HB.

only green bean I will plant

I have tried several different bean varieties in the last several years. I started with bush beans but any time we received a good rain the plants would end up laying on the ground and we would not get a decent harvest. I decided to try the Malibu pole beans and we froze over 13 pounds the first year in addition to what we ate fresh. They are very tasty and freeze well with our Food Saver. This is the only green bean that I will buy.

Tasty but not as attractive as the pic.

these were on 10ft tall taut strings, and they grew the full height. We planted 4ft row, and have harvested quite a few batches of beans - they look like they are trying to put off more flowers (it is 2nd week of August right now), so we might get more. However, despite being grown up a straight trellis, these were mostly curved pods. They are fairly forgiving and remain tasty and tender even when they get pretty large. A decent bean overall, and my first time growing pole beans for green beans, bc usually I grow bush beans for green beans and grow pole beans for dry soup beans.
