Incredible bean

Heavy producer. With 75ft row planted along a six foot wire fence, I harvest 3 gallons every other day from mid June until mid August (South Carolina midlands). Always stringless and the best tasting frozen bean I have found.

Coastal beans

I live on the SW Washington coast and it has been a very cool summer for us. This is the first time I have grown a Romano type bean but I LOVE these! Very tender even when over grown. The plants have done very well in our 60-70 degree weather. I did not grow any other beans this year as my bush beans did poorly last year.

Reliable and Prolific

Helda is, by far, the most reliable producer of large, stringless and tasty Romano beans. Most pods can reach 10 inches long and still remain tender and flavorful. One packet of seeds will produce 5 pounds per day in August in my Woodinville Washington garden.

High yeild

I grow on a 5" trellis, draping the much longer growth over the top. Helda is slower to bloom than other Romano's I've grown. The gallons of bean harvested far exceeds other varieties. I harvest every three days from July to mid September when productions fades. Helda freezes nicely. They are powdery mildew resistant. Exposed to the powdery mildew on summer squash sharing the garden, Helda doesn't show signs until the squash have long expired. I decide to write a review because germination this year was only 25% first panting compared to usual 75%. Territorial Seed replaced my purchase and the second planting sprouted at it's usual rate. Not sure what happened to the 1st planting, but appreciate Territorial Seeds quick replacement of product with no complaints.

Rich and flavorful beans are fiber-packed veggies that promote digestive health and are excellent sources of antioxidants that scavenge free radicals in the body. They are also nitrogen-fixing legumes; beans gather nitrogen from the air and load it into the soil to feed future crops.

Days to maturity are calculated from date of direct seeding.

Culture
• Beans are shallow rooted and can require up to 1/4 inch of water a day during hot weather
• Optimum soil pH is 5.5-6.5, mildly acidic

Direct Sowing

Insects & Diseases
• Common insects: Mexican bean beetles, bean weevils, cucumber beetles, spider mites
